North Portland Canoeing and Coffee

The St John's neighborhood of North Portland is somewhere I don't get to all that often. I used to take my Honda up there for service, Ms Nut used to live near-ish and I hear there's a McMenamin's Pub up there, but mostly I see it from the west side of the Willamette as I motor up Hwy 30 to Sauvie Island and pass the St John's Bridge. Boy, is that a picturesque bridge. Yesterday, my canoeing associate and I put in right underneath it and paddled south a ways. Afterwards, we rewarded ourselves with a cuppa and a cookie at the Ladybug Organic Coffeehouse on Lombard in the heart of the charming neighborhood. This isn't really a birding post....more of a photo post. Enjoy!

Neat posts. Love canoeing and bridges. The shorebird trail was too much as they are a rarity here in lakeless shoreless southern Minny.

Now I see where the new facebook photo came from! Looks like a fun paddle. I love the photo of the two of you, very sweet.

What a fun post - paddling and a cuppa, what could be better? We're hoping to get our kayaks out this weekend for the first time this season!

Wow, that is one place I wouldn't want to step out of the canoe to wade over to the shore. Or to get stuck between two rocks. Beautiful photos.

The St. John's Bridge is my favorite part of the drive to Sauvie Island, but I have not taken the time to stop and admire the view either.

Also, we spotted you in an OPB commercial this week. How cool!

Great pictures of the St Johns Bridge. Brought back lots of memories. My sister took me there on the streetcar in the 40's
