Excellent new yard bird!

I'd been hearing it for a week or so now but, due to the "no ID by sound" rule in the contest, I'd been unable to count it. Today I found it in my neighbor's tree....must be some good eats up there since it's been in that maple and the doug fir for so many days now.

WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH!!!

Blogger's note after reading my two comments: this is NOT my photo...boo hoo.....I lifted it from a better photographer.

Now, they're not a rarity in the northwest but they aren't a common yard bird. I've not seen anything but Red-breasted in my 10 years on this street and White-breasted usually only show up with oaks and nearby water when I'm out birding.

I'm still barely catching up with Michele.......but this is a pretty cool bird to add. :)

That is so very cool! I have been desperately searching (in vain) for this little guy. We regulary get the Red-breated but I would really love to see the White-breasted. Great photo and good birding!
