The Butte, the Backyard and Beyond

I'm so sorry for the long pause between posts. I haven't had a good blogworthy adventure since the coastal trip! But my birding associate and I are driving to Missoula for Thanksgiving and I think that many adventures await us. I just hope it's not the Stuck-on-the-Side-of-the-Road kind.

Last Sunday we went up to Powell Butte to get some exercise. It was a gorgeous day and everyone else in Portland had the same idea! Lots of people and dogs and smiles. We were so lucky to have this kind of view of the Cascade mountains......you can see Mt Hood (pictured below), Mt Adams, Mt St Helens, and Mt Jefferson from the top of lil ol Powell Butte. On a really good day you can see Mt Ranier, the tallest peak in the PNW.

The light was fading but gave good opportunity for Birding By Silhouette.

Back at home, the hummingbird posed in front of the brilliant fall leaves.

And then there's Tera, Mark's cockatiel. I wasn't so sure about him at first......but he's charmed his way into my heart. I can't resist his sidelong glances.........

Stay tuned for Montana blog posts!

Interesting that Tera warms your heart, yet Mark is you "birding associate"? Ha ha! That cracks me up!

I never realized that he had a pet bird. She is *very* cute! Have a safe and fun trip. I'll be awaiting a new post of your adventure.
